VA Medical Centers that have closed their doors are no longer eligible for reimbursement from the federal government, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced in a statement.
The closure of VA medical offices is the result of an ongoing VA health care program known as “VHA,” which provides financial assistance to families of veterans who have been discharged from the military.VA announced in January that it was closing its facilities in Alexandria, Va., and Arlington, Va.
VA said in March that it would continue to provide financial assistance for eligible veterans until September.
The VA said it would offer additional financial assistance until the VA’s “vacation” program, which was created in 2011, expired in October.
The department said it was not making any further comments about the closures at this time.
