Family dentist accused of stealing teeth from newborns

The family dentist accused by the state’s child welfare department of stealing newborns’ teeth has been sacked, state health minister Nandan Nilekani said on Tuesday.

Nilekani, who had earlier said the dentist had been sacked from his job as a dentist, also ordered the resignation of a senior public health official, as well as three other doctors.

Narendra Ravi was named as one of the doctors sacked by the Department of Health.

Ravi, who has been a resident dentist in Delhi for more than two decades, has been in jail for five months on charges of misconduct.

He has been charged under sections 376, 376A, 420, and 323.

His father is a family dentist.
